Evolv Networks Goes Abroad

Evolv Networks was recently contracted to design and deploy backup and disaster recovery systems for one of our large East-Asian clients. This project utilized VMware Infrastructure 3 to allow for rapid recovery of the physical server environment. A complete redesign of the backup architecture also led to an 70% reduction in the backup window.

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Released

Microsoft recently released Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for 32bit and x64 systems. This service pack resolves performance issues relating to machines with 2GB of RAM and above and many other enhancements.

PC users must therefore be aware that they can get in a lot of trouble simply by visiting a website – and that the bad guys no longer need to entice them to open an email attachment to wreak havoc on their machines.

Evasive Trojan spreads fast

Users are warned that a Trojan downloader is “spreading extremely fast and evading detection” from most other security software, apparently by disguising itself. Trojan.Fatobfus.Gen is designed specifically to evade detection by anti-virus software and to make the work of virus analysts as hard as possible. Trojan.Peacomm is one of a number of spamming Trojan horse programs recently encountered that appear to originate from Russia and are aimed at making money for the author by pumping up penny stocks on the US markets.
